\ British Tractor Wreckers-Company Information

I am an Englishman and as a boy I drove E27N and E1A Fordson Majors, after school and during weekends on farms in Lancashire. I served my apprenticeship with the Ford New Holland dealer working on Majors, Dextas, Ford worldwide series, County, Roadless and Northrop tractors.

I then left tractors and worked in various engineering jobs in England, Spain and New Zealand. In 1987, I married a Canadian girl and we decided to live in Saskatchewan. No suitable engineering jobs were to be found, so I decided to go back to tractors. After working with several other dealerships, in 1990, I decided to start my own tractor repair business.

First I was hooked on the John Deere H and then at a sale I looked at a Fordson Model F. It was in good shape and had run very recently. I was not planning to buy it as I thought it would make over $2000, however bidding was slow and I took it home for $800. The next day I drove it around the yard and all the old Fordson oil started flowing around my veins again. Next I had to find an E27N, which took a long time to find a good one. I began buying lots of tractors for my new habit, which was becoming very expensive.

After trading some parts and dealing in John Deere H tractors I thought may be I could have a business working with Fordsons.

After some good advertising and a loan from the bank, here we are with about 300 tractors in the yard. Fordson and Fords are the common colour in the yard. Any make of tractor may be found with the odd rareity of Rocall or Cletrac and of course a few Mack B series trucks.

Tractors being purchased at present consist of Case 2290, John Deere 4430, Massey Ferguson 2705, Allis Chalmers 7040, Ford 8600, International Harvestor 1066, etc...

The yard equipment may be of interest to some readers: 2 Michigan 125A loaders, Mack B61 truck, Ford TW30 County 4X4, Ford 545 Industrial Loader, Fordson Major Diesal Loader, Fordson County Cat Sideboom and Harley Davidson Golf (tool) cart.

We have shipped parts as far as Alaska, Brazil and Europe so far, and hope to continue close to home as well as abroad. Give us a call!

We were published in the "Canadian Antique Power" magazine, in the March/April 1997 issue.
